A MORNING THOUGHT TO SHARE

This morning as I was out on a little walk I began to think about something one of the ladies had said at our meeting the other day.  We had been talking about “giving” and I was showing scriptures about the attitude we needed to have when we give.  We aren’t to “give” with the idea we will get something (blessings).  That is so prevailent now a days….you give so God will bless you.  These “blessings” are always blessings of a material nature that people are seeking.  This woman said her pastor told them that they were supposed to live an “abundant” life (materially), yet she did not see this in her own life.  We discussed  how “abundant” doesn’t necessarily mean to be materially or financially prosperous as most believe.  Most people see my life here in the interior of Kenya as a very hard way to live…no conveniences, etc.  Yet, I believe I live a very abundant life!  I have peace and joy and I can’t think of any material thing that would make me feel that my loife could be better.  Paul said he knew how to abound and to abase, how to suffer hunger and to be full….as Christians we must learn to be content in whatever state we are in….with food and raiment to be content.  We must keep our eyes on the things above not on the things on this earth.

Blessings seem to be the order of the day…..you must give to be blessed.  Our life seems to be one of always looking for God to bless us somehow….usually materially.

I was thinking about the disciples….how they turned the world upside down with their teachings!  Were they teaching about getting blessings?  NO!  They were SO excited because they had seen the resurrected Jesus Christ!  They KNEW death had been defeated!  They were excited and telling everyone that through Jesus Christ was the forgiveness of sin and the gift of eternal life!

So, what IS religion all about?  Getting blessings in this life or knowing we will have eternal life through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross?  It is about DEATH being defeated….abolished….to be absent from the body is to be with the Lord!!  For a born-again Christian (Jesus said you must be born again), there is no reason to fear death….we live with our eyes on the things above where Jesus sits at the right hand of God….on our eternal home with Him!  Where He is we will be also!

Don’t fret about getting “blessings”!  There is no greater blessing than the one Jesus died to gve us….Eternal life!!  What could be better than that!!  Cast your cares upon Him for He careth for you!  His yoke is easy and His burden is light….He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us!  Eye has not seen nor ear heard nor the heart of man conceived the things that God has prepared for them who love Him!

Trust in HIM, rejoice in HIM, be content in HIM!  We are heirs together with Jesus Christ and we will experience joy at His right hand forever!!

I love you!  Be encouraged….this life is temporary…remember 2Corinthians 4:18.  God bless you.  Mama Jo

I am a missionary in Kenya. I work with Pastor Sablon Ahenda and we are located in Ugunja, Kenya. I have been in Kenya since March 13, 2003. Our ministry is called Treasure Keepers Kenya and it is a discipleship ministry to pastors in the interior to help ground them in the word of God using the Authorized KJV Bible. We are not an organization nor do we promote any denomination. We have one goal and that is to contend for the faith once delivered to the saints using the Authorized KJV Bible. God bless you.
